RETREAT ONE:
While I was an endodontic specialist, I encountered root canal treatment renewal (retreatment) cases most frequently. In these cases, the healthy removal of gutta percha from root canal systems was one of the most difficult issues for me. I have tried many file systems in root canal treatment renewal procedures so far and I continue to try them. In cases where I had difficulty, gutta percha dissolving chemical solutions also helped me.
However, the Retreat One system offers the opportunity to do the work of many sequential file systems with a single file without the need to use any gutta-percha solvent – I would like to emphasize this in particular. Thanks to this system, we can easily reach the apical area by penetrating the gutta-percha even in curved canals. In addition, the fact that the system has gold alloy technology and the file length is shorter than 25 mm provides sufficient rigidity during gutta-percha removal in the root canal system, while at the same time showing a flexibility similar to the blue alloy technology.
I observed that gutta percha could be removed more easily and quickly by operating at different RPM values in the coronal, middle and apical regions of the root canal system. This made the postoperative period more comfortable for the patients. In addition, there is a 3D file in the Retreat One package. With this file, we can effectively remove fragmented gutta percha and sealer residues that are difficult to remove from the root canal system without changing the canal anatomy too much. We can use this file dry with 800 RPM and 1 Ncm torque, as well as when the root canal system is wet. In other words, we can also activate irrigation solutions with the 3D file.
ADVANCED KIT:
During root canal treatment, we may encounter complex root canal systems. It is quite difficult to make an effective preparation, especially in canals with a high curvature angle or a sudden slope. This complexity may lead us to use different file systems depending on the case. However, Advanced Kit has ended my search for this subject for now.
There are 4 different files in the kit. In many cases, I was able to reach the apex easily using only the 10/.07 and 17/.05 files. As expected, these minimal preparations were mostly made in the MesioBuccal 2 and MidMesial canals. However, if there was a slope and calcification in the main canals to be prepared, I was able to reach the apex clearly with the 25/.04 file and complete the preparation healthily.
Here, apart from the three files, I preferred the 10/.04 file in cases where I had difficulty reaching the apex with the 17/.05 file, and there were cases where I was able to reach the apex. Although I did not encounter this very often, However, if I had difficulty reaching the apex with the 10/.04 file, I was able to reach the apex more safely with the 08/.03 Glider Pro file.
All files in the Advanced Kit are recommended by the company. I definitely recommend using it in RPM and Torque values.
